He jumped in the water and got caught up in the propeller. He drowned. It was really sad."

Carter's boat wins race
KEY WEST, Fla. (AP)--Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's raceboat easily won the Super Vee class during the first of two races that comprise the Key West Offshore World Championship.
The second and final heats, for more than 80 entries in the American Power Boat Association-sanctioned event, are set for Saturday and Sunday.
Nick Carter Racing, piloted Wednesday by Key West racers Lee Murray and Steve Oropeza, averaged 90.57 mph around the 68.25-mile course through Key West Harbor and surrounding waters off the lower Florida Keys.
Carter, who was watching from the shore, was so excited with the win, he jumped into the water.
"Sure I jumped in," the 22-year-old said. "We won the national championship this year and we'll win Saturday to clinch the Worlds."
